EFCC Saga: Jude Okoye Breaks Silence on P-Square Feud, Financial Disputes
August 18, 2024Jude Okoye, the elder brother and former manager of the iconic duo P-Square, has publicly addressed the ongoing financial and legal disputes involving him, his twin brothers Peter and Paul Okoye, and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
Jude Okoye expressed his frustration over the expectations placed upon him as the elder sibling to mediate in the feud. “Everybody keeps saying I’m their elder brother and I should settle their differences, but somebody who doesn’t respect you, how do you keep the person in order?” he posted, highlighting the complexity of familial and business relationships.
The crux of the matter revolves around the distribution of earnings from P-Square‘s ventures. Jude revealed, “I only get 40% share in P-Square earnings while they share 30% each.” This statement has sparked a wave of reactions across social media, with many users expressing shock over the distribution of shares, suggesting that Jude’s role as a manager might have been disproportionately compensated.
The saga took a legal turn when allegations surfaced that Jude and his wife, Ifeoma Okoye, also known as Ify Okoye, had set up a secret company, Northside Music, allegedly diverting funds from P-Square‘s main company, Northside Entertainment. In his defense, Peter Okoye has vehemently denied accusations of reporting Paul Okoye to the EFCC, instead focusing on the financial discrepancies he discovered.
Paul Okoye, known as Rudeboy, confirmed the split of P-Square, attributing the dissolution to creative differences and personal grievances, including the EFCC’s investigation, which, despite clearing him, left a mark on their relationship.
The EFCC’s involvement came after Peter accused Jude and his wife of financial mismanagement. This led to an investigation that has become public knowledge, further straining the family ties. Jude‘s admission of his share in P-Square‘s earnings has fueled the fire, with fans and observers questioning the fairness of such an arrangement.
This family feud, now played out in the public eye, not only affects the personal lives of the Okoyes but also casts a shadow over the legacy of P-Square, one of Africa’s most successful music acts. The dispute has led to a significant rift, with the brothers’ wives also taking sides, escalating the personal into a public spectacle.
