Adetshina’s path to victory was complex. Originally slated for the Miss South Africa pageant, she withdrew following controversy over her nationality. Born in South Africa to a Nigerian father and a Mozambican mother, Adetshina faced criticism and was disqualified from Miss South Africa, an incident that drew significant media attention.
