Vincent Kennedy McMahon was born on August 24, 1945, in Pinehurst, North Carolina. His parents were Victoria (née Hanner; 1920-2022) and Vincent James McMahon (1914-1984).

His father left the family when McMahon was still a baby, taking McMahon‘s older brother, Roderick James McMahon III, with him. McMahon did not meet his father until the age of 12.
