Early Life And Education

Linda Marie Edwards was born on October 4, 1948, in New Bern, North Carolina, United States. She is the daughter of Evelyn and Henry Edwards and was an only child. Her parents were both employees at Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point, a military base.

Edwards attended Havelock High School and later enrolled at East Carolina University in 1966. At East Carolina, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in French and certification to teach. Ethnically, Linda Marie Edwards is of mixed Welsh-American descent. Religiously, she practises Christianity.

Career

Linda McMahon’s career began as a receptionist and paralegal at the Covington & Burling law firm in the 1960s, where she also studied intellectual property rights. 1980 she co-founded Titan Sports, Inc., which would later become World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).

McMahon served as the company’s president 1993 and CEO from 1997 onwards. Under McMahon‘s leadership, WWE experienced tremendous growth and transformed the wrestling industry, leading some observers to regard her and her husband Vince as “business geniuses.”

In 2009, McMahon resigned from her CEO role at WWE to run for a seat in the United States Senate as a Republican candidate from Connecticut. Though she stepped down as CEO, McMahon retained a minority ownership stake in WWE.
