Career

Christian Eriksen began his senior club career at 18 in 2010, playing for the Dutch club Ajax. During his time there, he won three Eredivisie titles and the KNVB Cup, establishing himself as one of the brightest young talents in European football.

In 2013, Eriksen moved to Tottenham Hotspur in the Premier League, joining the London club for a transfer fee of £11 million (€12.45 million). At Tottenham, Eriksen flourished, being twice named the club’s Player of the Year. He was also voted into the 2017–18 PFA Team of the Year for consistently excellent performances.

Eriksen‘s time at Spurs culminated in the club reaching the 2019 UEFA Champions League final, though they ultimately fell short of lifting the trophy. In 2020, Eriksen departed Tottenham, signing for Italian giants Inter Milan in a €19.7 million (£16.9 million) transfer.

His time in Serie A was short-lived. However, he was not permitted to play in the league due to the presence of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator he had to receive after suffering a cardiac arrest during a game at UEFA Euro 2020.

After he departed from Inter Milan, Eriksen signed a short-term contract with Premier League club Brentford in January 2022. His first appearance for the Bees came as a substitute in a 2–0 defeat to Newcastle United. Eriksen replaced Mathias Jensen, who had come on in Eriksen‘s place in the game where he suffered cardiac arrest.

On 15 July 2022, Manchester United announced they had agreed to sign Eriksen on a three-year deal. The Danish midfielder was given the iconic number 14 shirt at Old Trafford and debuted for the club in a 2–1 home loss against Brighton & Hove Albion in the Premier League.

Eriksen has since provided an assist in a win over Arsenal and scored his first goal for United in a victory over Fulham. Eriksen‘s international career has also been impressive. He was called to the Denmark national under-17 team in 2007 and quickly rose through the youth ranks, named Danish U17 Talent of the Year in 2008.

He made his senior international debut for Denmark in 2010 at 18 and earned over 130 caps, including appearances in six major tournaments. Most recently, Eriksen was included in the Denmark squad for UEFA Euro 2024.

He scored in Denmark’s opening group-stage match against Slovenia. In the final group-stage encounter against Serbia, he played in his 133rd international match, becoming the most-capped Danish Player ahead of his teammate Simon Kjær.
