Meet Toya Delazy’s Parents: Lethuxolo Buthelezi and Mr. Buthelezi

Toya Delazy is a London-based South African singer, producer, pianist, dancer, and performer from KwaZulu-Natal.

Known professionally as Latoya Nontokozo Buthelezi, Delazy is celebrated for her unique music genre called Afro rave, which blends techno, drum, bass, and beats with Zulu lyricism. This fusion of electronic dance music and traditional African sounds has earned her critical acclaim and a devoted fanbase.

Born on February 5, 1990, in Mahlabathini, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa, Latoya is the daughter of Lethuxolo Buthelezi and her husband, Mr. Buthelezi, whose exact name is unknown.

She is one of eight children of her late mother, though the names of her siblings are not publicly disclosed. Delazy completed her secondary education at Domino Servite School, graduating in 2009, and pursued a degree in jazz piano at Howard College in Durban, South Africa. She is of Zulu ethnicity and practises Christianity.

Lethuxolo Buthelezi

Lethuxolo Buthelezi, the mother of renowned South African artist Toya Delazy, was born in 1959 in South Africa to Gatsha Buthelezi and Irene Audrey Thandekile Mzila. While the names and details of her siblings remain unknown, her educational background has not been publicly disclosed.

Lethuxolo was of Zulu ethnicity and practised Christianity. Tragically, she passed away in a car accident on July 27, 2008, in Melmoth, Zululand. She lost control of her vehicle, which rolled over and resulted in her death on impact.
