Early Life And Education

Monica Emma Josefin Nilsson was born on March 22, 1969, in När, Gotland, Sweden.

She was the daughter of revue artist and songwriter Allan Nilsson and his wife, Doris Nilsson. Josefin grew up in Gotland alongside her two sisters, Marie Nilsson (1961–2024) and another unnamed sister and a brother.

She later moved to Stockholm for high school, where she continued her education after growing up on the island of Gotland.

Josefin was of Swedish ethnicity, although her religious beliefs are not publicly known.

Career

Josefin Nilsson began her musical career by forming the Ainbusk group in 1990, alongside her sister Marie Nilsson and friends Annelie Roswall and Birgitta BittisJakobsson.

The group gained attention when Benny Andersson of ABBA noticed them and wrote two successful songs.

Their debut EP was released that same year, marking the start of a promising music career. The group was well-received in Sweden, and its popularity grew over the following years.



In 1992, Josefin was awarded the Ulla Billquist scholarship, which supports young artists. In 1993, she released her first solo album, Shapes. Produced by Björn Ulvaeus and Benny Andersson, the album achieved commercial success, ranking 14th in Swedish sales.
