Ekta Kapoor was born on June 7, 1975, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. She is the daughter of Jeetendra, a renowned Bollywood actor, and Shobha Kapoor, a film producer. Ekta has one younger brother, Tusshar Kapoor, who is also an actor in the Indian film industry.
She completed her early education at Bombay Scottish School before earning a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from Mithibai College. Ekta hails from the Khatri community and follows the Hindu faith.
