Veteran Nollywood actor Patrick Doyle has sparked intense debate with a blistering critique of socialite Sophia Egbueje. Doyle condemns her for flaunting her newly acquired Lamborghini despite what he calls her “shameful means of livelihood.”

Doyle’s remarks, posted on Facebook at 9:00 AM WAT today, follow Egbueje’s viral showcase of her ₦500 million luxury car, further fueling an ongoing controversy involving her and Grammy-winning artist Burna Boy.

In his post, Doyle didn’t hold back, writing, “She boasted about the value of her wristwatch and flaunted a 600 million naira car… Some half-wits were impressed and congratulated her as she smiled and flaunted both items, as if we hadn’t heard about her shameful means of livelihood. Meanwhile, I can bet that members of her extended family are going through a tough time. The romanticizing of iniquity has become the stock in trade of dim wits amongst us.” His comments strongly suggest scepticism about the sources of Egbueje’s wealth, adding another layer to her recent clash with Burna Boy.

The controversy stems from a leaked voice note on February 27, in which Egbueje accused Burna Boy of promising her a Tesla Cybertruck—later confused with a Lamborghini—after an intimate encounter, only to back out. In response, Burna Boy mocked her claim in a freestyle video, singing, “I no buy Lambo, is that why you are shouting?” Unfazed, Egbueje unveiled her white Lamborghini Urus on March 1, captioning it, “My baby is here. As dem no buy am, I buy am,” implying she purchased it herself—an assertion that has drawn both admiration and scepticism.

Doyle’s remarks have divided opinions online. Some social media users echoed his criticism, with one writing, “Patrick Doyle spitting facts—Sophia’s flexing dirty money while her family starves.” Others came to Egbueje’s defence, arguing, “Who made Doyle the morality police? Let Sophia live—her hustle, her car.” Known for his outspoken takes on societal issues, Doyle’s commentary carries weight, though it’s unclear if he has any direct knowledge of Egbueje’s finances beyond public perception.

Egbueje, a Lagos-based influencer known for her extravagant lifestyle, has not directly addressed Doyle’s remarks. However, she shared a cryptic Instagram Story at 11:15 AM WAT today: “Success is the best revenge—keep talking while I keep winning.”
