The esteemed entrepreneur and banker died on April 8, 2025, following a brief illness, leaving behind a profound legacy that helped shape Nigeria’s financial and telecommunications industries.

Born on April 9, 1939, in Owerri, Imo State, Dozie was a visionary whose impact on the country’s economy spanned decades. He was the founder of Diamond Bank Plc, established in 1990, which rose under his leadership to become one of Nigeria’s most respected and innovative financial institutions. Renowned for its customer-centric approach, the bank played a significant role in redefining the nation’s banking experience.
Pascal Dozie’s influence went far beyond banking. He was a trailblazer in the telecommunications space, notably serving as a pioneer and former Chairman of MTN Nigeria, where he played a critical role in revolutionizing mobile connectivity across the country.
A graduate of economics from the London School of Economics, Dozie began his professional journey in the United Kingdom before returning to Nigeria to build an empire rooted in excellence and vision. His dedication to national development earned him the prestigious national honor of Commander of the Order of the Niger (CON). In addition, he served as Chairman of Pan-Atlantic University, where he championed educational advancement.
