Lee Jung-jae began his career in the entertainment industry as a model after meeting fashion designer Ha Yong-soo while working at an Apgujeong cafe. After years of modeling, he made his acting debut in the 1993 Dinosaur Teacher series, which aired on SBS TV as Lee Jung-Jae.

He rose to prominence following his appearance in ‘Dinosaur Teacher,’ after which he only appeared in lead or prominent roles in Kdramas. Following that, he appeared in the South Korean dramas Feelings (1993) and Love Is Blue (1994). In 1999, Lee faced charges of driving under the influence when his BMW crashed into another car in a nearby lane. His blood alcohol level was found to be 0.222%. Consequently, his driver’s license was revoked. Lee faced another DUI charge in 2002, leading to his driver’s license cancellation.
