Jade Ewen, a British singer and actress, was born in Plaistow, London, on January 24, 1988. Her diverse heritage includes a Jamaican mother and a Scottish-Sicilian father.
Unfortunately, her father, Trevor Ewen, faces challenges as he is blind and partially deaf, while her mother, Carol Ewen, battles with Myasthenia Gravis, a chronic autoimmune neuromuscular disease.
Jade Ewen has two younger siblings named Shereen Ewen and Kiel Ewen. She began her education at New City Primary School and later attended Brampton Manor Academy before being granted a scholarship to the prestigious Sylvia Young Theatre School (SYTS).
Career
Jade Ewen‘s singing career started in a girl group called Trinity Stone, which had a deal with Sony BMG in 2005. However, the group disbanded in 2007 before they could release an album.
Ewen was chosen to represent the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest two years later, in 2009, with the song It’s My Time, written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Diane Warren. Thanks to her efforts, she placed a respectable fifth, the highest finish for the UK since 2002.
In September 2009, it was announced that Jade Ewen would join the Sugababes to replace Keisha Buchanan. During her time with the group, they released two albums, Catfights and Spotlights in 2010 and Sweet 7 in 2011. However, the Sugababes disbanded later that year.
