Transformative Tale: ‘Breath of Life’ Unveils on Prime Video

Prime Video, a renowned streaming platform, recently released the much-anticipated film, Breath of Life, to eager audiences. The movie, centered around the character Timi, a gifted clergyman who transforms into an old, solitary figure following a tragic loss, weaves a compelling narrative of resilience, hope, and the transformative power of human connection.

Directed and written by Bodunrin Sasore, with production by Eku Edewor and Derin Adeyokunnu as the executive director, Breath of Life explores the unconventional relationship between Timi and Elijah. Timi, portrayed by Wale Ojo, navigates life’s challenges with the help of Elijah, played by Chimezie Imo, a humble man aspiring to become a priest.

The film’s central message revolves around living with purpose, prompting viewers to reflect on the impact of their actions and engagements. Sasore, shedding light on the title choice, shared, “Breath of Life is about giving breath for a reason and a journey through a man’s entire life.”

Addressing the unusual focus on male-to-male relationships, Sasore explained that the film aimed to explore meaningful connections often overlooked in Nigerian cinema. The story skillfully depicts the divide in class and hierarchy, forcing characters from different backgrounds to come together.

Elijah‘s character, a graduate forced into domestic service due to circumstances, highlights societal failures and the humility life sometimes imposes. Sasore emphasized the deliberate contrast where a wealthy clergyman relies on a maid to weather life’s storms.

Eku Edewor spotlighted Elijah‘s character, emphasizing his diligence and dedication as a house manager. Executive Director Derin Adeyokunnu shared insights into the inspiration behind the film, drawing from the director’s personal experiences and family stories.

The movie’s stellar cast, including Chimezie Imo, Genoveva Umeh, Ademola Adedoyin, and Eku Edewor, along with veteran actors Sam Dede, Tina Mba, and Sambasa Nzeribe, delivers compelling performances that enrich the narrative.
