Anshu Jain, now 60, was born on January 7, 1963, in Jaipur, India, to parents Ambu Jain and Shashi Jain.

Career

Jain’s career began on Wall Street after he completed his MBA. He started as an analyst in derivatives research at Kidder, Peabody & Co.

In 1988, he joined Merrill Lynch and spent seven years setting up and running the global hedge fund coverage group.

During this time, he became acquainted with Edson Mitchell, an influential investment banker who became Jain’s mentor.

In 1995, Jain followed Mitchell to Deutsche Bank, where they were tasked with creating a world-class investment bank division in London.

Jain initially led a group marketing fixed-income derivatives to large investors and hedge funds. Over the years, he took on various leadership roles within Deutsche Bank, including head of global capital markets, sales, and fixed-income divisions.

Jain’s tenure as co-CEO of Deutsche Bank began in June 2012 when he was appointed alongside Jürgen Fitschen.

While Fitschen handled the bank’s retail operations and German affairs, Jain oversaw the investment bank and asset management divisions.



He was pivotal in expanding Deutsche Bank’s wealth management unit and implementing cost-cutting measures to improve profitability.

Death

Anshu Jain passed away on August 12, 2022, at 59, in London, England. The cause of his death was duodenal cancer.
