In 1991, Busson founded the EIM Group, which provided fund-of-fund management services to the growing institutional market for hedge funds. In 2008, EIM was reported to be a Bernie Madoff Ponzi scheme victim.

In 2001, the FBI asked EIM to help trace al-Qaida’s finances, though the firm was not a target of the investigation. In 2013, Busson merged EIM with Swiss investment firm Gottex Fund Management Holdings. He was named the interim executive chairman of Gottex in 2015 after the previous chairman stepped down.

However, Gottex (rebranded as LumX) was eventually delisted from the Swiss Stock Exchange in 2020 after suffering losses of over $55 million in the previous five years, effectively ending Busson‘s time as a prominent hedge fund manager.
