Crispin Hellion Glover (born 20 April 1964), also addressed as Crispin Glover, is a talented actor and filmmaker from the United States. He also works as a musician, filmmaker, and novelist. He holds a unique position in the entertainment industry and is well-known for playing oddball characters.
Before making his cinematic debut in the 1983 erotic comedy My Tutor, he began acting at the age of 13, playing small parts in several sitcoms. In the movie Back to the Future, he gained his breakout role as George McFly.

Crispin Glover, who was born on April 20, 1964, in New York City, United States, is the lone child of actor Bruce Glover and his actress wife, Betty Glover (formerly Bloom Koerber). Soon after his birth, his mother retired. After the family relocated there, he was raised in a creative and culturally diverse home in Los Angeles, California. He has a brother named Michael Leigh.
He was given the renowned Saint Crispin’s Day speech from William Shakespeare‘s historical tragedy Henry V and is of English, Czech, Swedish, and German ancestry.
Crispin Glover completed his first through ninth grades at Mirman School before moving on to Venice High for his tenth and eleventh grades and Beverly Hills High School for his twelfth. In 1982, he obtained his high school diploma.
Career
At the age of 13, Crispin Glover made his professional acting debut in situational comedies like Happy Days and Family Ties. He made his cinematic debut in The Tutor and went on to star in Teachers (1984), Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter (1984), Back to the Future (1985), and The Orkly Kid, the third installment of the Beaver trilogy (1985). In 1986, he played Layne, one of his career-defining roles, in River’s Edge alongside Keanu Reeves.
Crispin Glover‘s second significant performance was as Rubin in the British independent comedy-buddy movie Rubin & Ed (1991). In that same year, 1991, he portrayed Andy Warhol in Oliver Stone‘s The Doors. He played the silent assassin in the action-comedy Charlie’s Angels (2000) and its sequel, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle (2003).
One of the two movies in which he played the title role was Bartleby, a 2001 version of Herman Melville‘s short story Bartleby, the Scrivener. The 2003 horror film, Willard, was written based on Stephen Gilbert‘s book Ratman’s Notebooks. He had the opportunity to collaborate with Israeli director Menahem Golan on the 2002 film Crime and Punishment.
Crispin Glover is working on his third picture as a director, which he hopes will be the platform for him and his father to work together. He most recently appeared as the monster Grendel in the 3D Motion Capture epic fantasy Beowulf (2007), which reunited him with Back to the Future director Robert Zemeckis for the first time in 22 years.
Crispin Glover later played the toy poodle Fify in the second and third installments of Open Season, and he will soon be seen in the movies The Brits Are Coming, and We Have Always Lived in the Castle.
