He gained prominence in 2006 after winning the 12th Star Awards Ceremony International. He has appeared in several stage productions, films, and television dramas. He is best known for his roles in The Dream Catcher (2019) and The Ultimatum (2009).

Early Life & Education

Elvin Ng was born in Singapore on December 23rd, 1980. He was born to Ng Chye Seng, a prolific Singaporean businessperson father, and Linda Chew, a Potter maker mother. 

He is the oldest in a family of three. He has a younger brother and a sister whose identities have not been confirmed. 

Elvin Ng attended National Junior College, Catholic High School, and Jurong Primary School. He obtained his English literature degree with honors from the National University of Singapore. According to him, his mother, Linda Chew, instilled a strong sense of social responsibility from a young age. 

Elvin Ng was involved in several initiatives with charitable organizations and went on a trip to Brazil and Peru at 20. His work in these projects gave him a better understanding of his privilege. 

When he turned 21, he pledged to give 10% of all future earnings until he turns 40 to charity causes that benefit the poor children living in poverty around the world.

There is no denying that Elvin Ng is one of the most popular actors in Singapore. While fans always speculate about who he might be dating, he appears currently single.

Elvin Ng‘s talent was discovered when he was still in college, thanks to MediaCorp D.J. and Host Dennis Chew and Belinda Lee‘s talent-hunting show School Belle and the Beau. 

His performance and appearance caught the attention of the MediaCorp producers who recorded the program at his college, the National University of Singapore. He and Joanne Peh had a supporting part in the 2005 television program A Life of Hope, and MediaCorp gave them the chance to sign a contract.

Subsequently, Elvin Ng received two nominations at the Star Awards 2006 but lost the Most Popular Newcomer award to Kelvin Tan. After earning the Top 10 Most Popular Male Artists Award ten times between 2006 and 2016, he was named the Star Awards’ All-Time Favorite Artiste.

Elvin Ng made the “Top 10 Most Popular Male Artists” list three times in a row, earned a nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal of a young man with autism in the series Breakout, and won the Rocket Award for the biggest breakthrough at the Star Awards in 2010. That same year, he and Zhou Ying were nominated for the best on-screen couple.

Elvin Ng was originally chosen to play Yamamoto Yousuke in the drama series The Little Nyonya. Still, He was injured just before production, so Dai Xiangyu was brought in to take his place.
