Syed Emraan Anwar Hashmi was born on March 24, 1979, in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India. He is the son of Anwar Hashmi, a businessman who also acted in the film Baharon Ki Manzil, and Maherahh Hashmi, a homemaker.

Hashmi has one older brother named Calvin Hashmi. Hashmi studied at the Maneckji Cooper Education Trust School and later attended Sydenham College in Mumbai, where he earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Mumbai.

Emraan Hashmi comes from a mixed heritage background. His father is Muslim, and his mother is Roman Catholic. He was raised in a Muslim household and identifies as Muslim.

Career

Emraan Hashmi began his career as an assistant director on the horror film Raaz (2002). This initial foray into the film industry paved the way for his transition to acting, as he debuted in the crime film Footpath (2003).

However, his starring role in the erotic thriller Murder (2004) indeed marked his breakthrough, establishing him as a rising star in the Bollywood landscape.
