Wang Junkai, professionally known as Karry Wang, was born on September 21, 1999, in Chongqing, China. Raised primarily by his grandparents due to his parents’ demanding work schedules, his father, Gong Shenghong, worked as a taxi driver while his mother was a hairdresser.

Although little is known about his siblings, In 2017, Wang successfully passed the highly competitive college entrance examination, earning a place at the prestigious Beijing Film Academy.

The group quickly became a cultural phenomenon in China, captivating youth with their music and performances. In 2016, Wang released his first solo single, Ode to a Tree, which he co-composed.

This was followed by Memory in Ferris Wheel, an OST for the web series Finding Soul, which topped the Billboard China V Chart for three consecutive weeks. He also made his acting debut that year in Zhang Yimou’s film The Great Wall.
