They had two children, Ariel (1981–1988) and Jake. Tragically, Elizabeth contracted HIV through a blood transfusion, unknowingly passing the virus to Ariel through breastfeeding and to Jake in utero.
Elizabeth dedicated her life to raising awareness and advocating for HIV/AIDS research before passing away in 1994.
