A. J. Cook was born on July 22, 1978, to parents Mike Cook and Sandra Cook in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Nathan Cook, Paul Cook, and Angela Cook are the names of her three siblings.
She was raised close to Whitby, an Ontario city, and went to Anderson Collegiate Vocational Institute.
