A graduate of Redeemer’s University, Elma Mbadiwe has appeared in several Nollywood feature films, short films, web series, and TV series.

Early Life

Elma Mbadiwe was born Abizz Kenechukwu Mbadiwe on the 28th of January 1988. She was born in a private-run medical centre in Lagos City. She was birthed into the family of Mr. and Mrs. Mbadiwe. 

She is a Lagos-bred woman who spent her formative years residing in the commercial city. Although she has lived in the Southwest region all her life, Elma Mbadiwe is originally from the Southeast. She is an Igbo woman and speaks both Igbo and English languages fluently. She is an indigene of Imo State. 

Elma Mbadiwe is from an upper-middle-class family with strong traditional and moral values. Her parents worked hard to provide her with the good things in life, ensuring she received a quality education in her formative years. 

Education

Elma Mbadiwe attended elite primary schools in Lagos State for her elementary education as a child. 

After that, she studied for her secondary education at a leading private-owned high school. Upon graduating from high school, she was admitted to the private Christian institution – Redeemer’s University. 

After four years of study, Elma Mbadiwe bagged a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication from the institution. 

Career

After completing the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) program, Elma Mbadiwe began working in the media industry. She gained employment as a writer at Consolidated Media. The firm was the media house for SoundCity. As she advanced in her career, she became an associate producer in the production department of the media house. 

Although she had a thriving career in the media industry, Elma Mbadiwe still nursed her longtime ambition of becoming an actress. She aspired to become a Nollywood superstar. In her secondary and university days, she was an active member of the school’s Drama Society. 

Elma Mbadiwe finally decided to pursue her dream in 2016. She began auditioning for roles in films produced in Nigeria. She secured her first movie role in the 2016 film, The Audition. She played a supporting role in the movie.

Elma Mbadiwe got her big break when she was cast to play the lead role of Tallulah in the film – Unbroken. The film was a huge success for her career as it brought her to the limelight in the industry. She not only amassed fans because of the film but also began to get more challenging and high-paying acting roles. 

She played the role of Laraba in E.V.E, which brought her more fame. Africa Magic Productions is the Executive Producer of both Unbroken and E.V.E. Elma Mbadiwe is one of the casts of the 2022 Netflix original drama series Far From Home. She played the role of Carmen Wilmer-Willoughby. Her acting in Far From Home has shot her into the top ranking of Nollywood actors.
