Lucy Ameh (born June 12, 1980), famous as Queen Amina Lucious, is a talented multi-award-winning actress and producer. She is a personality who has won the heart of film enthusiasts through her passionate way of performance.

As an actress, she is mainly appreciated for her excellent roles in Annie (2020), Kofa, and Amina (2021). She’s also starred in other films such as Beauty and the Beast, Fallen Angel, Handcuffs, Braids on Bald Head, and others.

Lucy Ameh has been on set for over a decade, starring with other famous African actors such as Ramsey Nouah, Nadia Buari, and others. However, she’s enormous for her natural beauty and ability to portray different characters.

Early Life

Lucy Ameh is a native of Benue State but was born and bred in Kaduna State, Nigeria. She was born on the 12th of June, 1980. 

She grew up alongside her family and siblings in Northern Nigeria, interested in acting and stage performance.

Her mother, Mrs. Ameh, supported her dream of becoming an actress by providing the necessary support to groom her talent.

Education 

Lucy Ameh went through her primary and secondary education at a local school in Kaduna state, Northern Nigeria, where she also obtained her senior school leaving certificate.

After secondary school graduation, she enrolled at the prestigious NTA TV College Jos (affiliated with Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria), where she studied courses in Mass Communication. 

At this same college, she learned film production and stage performance. 

Interestingly, Lucy Ameh also holds a diploma in Law, acquired from the University of Jos in Plateau State.

Career

Lucy Ameh got inspired to become an actor when she discovered that it was humans inside the BOX TV, even though she had little or no idea how to get into the BOX.

Growing up, she was always the outgoing one amongst her siblings, the outspoken one who seldom lost arguments, partly because she decided to study Law. However, her passion for art kept chasing her. 

From her secondary school days as a boarding house student, Lucy Ameh would save her pocket money and use them instead to rent VHS Cassettes to catch up on all the Nigerian movies during holidays. After school, she would dramatize and mimic what she watched to her hostel mates. 

Though she felt that all she would ever want to become was a professional actress, her father wanted her to study Law at the university, which she did and yet went on to chase her dream.

In 2015, Lucy Ameh‘s mother (who she calls her number 1 fan) kick-started her career by enrolling her in a three-month acting training professional. After the training, she worked in her very first screen job called Nemesis

Then, she joined the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Kaduna, in 2005 to harness her skills, and even when she had to leave for school in Jos, she joined the Actors Guild of Nigeria over there, where she got the chance to star in more productions.

In 2007, Lucy Ameh starred in a film titled Beauty and the Beast, alongside Ghanian star Nadia Buari. The film was a commercial success and was even uploaded on YouTube.

Furthermore, she decided to make a more significant move, which she achieved by applying to be part of the Reality show Next Movie Star, Nigeria/Ghana. Lucy Ameh made it into the house and was housemates alongside Uti Nwachukwu, Martha Ankoma, Lydia Forson, Adesewa, and the rest. 

After the reality show, Lucy Ameh decided to leave Lagos state and return to the North to continue her education.

In 2010, she, however, returned to the industry with full force after starring in Ishaya Bako‘s highly acclaimed Braids on a Bald Head. After the production, her career took a significant turn for good as producers took an interest in her, and the rest is history. 



Lucy Ameh has since starred in several film productions, some of which are: the highly acclaimed Queen Amina, Revolution, Learning Curves, Bariga Sugar, Unfair, Band of Five, Gloom, O-Town, Handcuff, Fallen Angel, The Councillor, Dise’s Secrets, Six of Us, Dagger, Goldlyne, to mention but a few. 

Netflix’s Queen Amina is arguably her best appearance on set so far, where she played the lead role and caught the attention of viewers and movie enthusiasts.

Lucy Ameh is a sumptuous and splendid actress who has received several recognitions and appreciation for her hard work on set. 

In 2010, she was awarded Best Actress by the Actors Guild of Nigeria, Kaduna. While in 2013, she won Best Actress at the Legacy Film Festival, Jos, and deservedly won Double Best Actress at the Kaduna Entertainment Awards in 2014 and 2015, respectively.
