Nicole Sullivan (born 21 April 1970) is a gifted actress and comedian from the United States of America. She is best known for her six seasons (1995–2001) on the sketch comedy program MADtv. She also played Holly Shumpert in the CBS sitcom The King of Queens for five seasons (2001-2005, 2007).
On Scrubs, Nicole Sullivan played the recurrent character Jill Tracy. She played the heroic Mira Nova in Disney/Buzz Pixar’s Lightyear of Star Command and the wicked Shego in Disney Channel’s Kim Possible. She had recurrent parts on Family Guy and played Franny Robinson in Disney’s Meet the Robinsons.
Rita Rocks, her Lifetime television series, aired from 2008 to 2009. From 2008 through 2013, she played Marlene the Otter in The Penguins of Madagascar. Lyn Mettler, Jules‘ (Courteney Cox) therapist, was her character in the comedy Cougar Town. In 2012, she played Lyla in the Disney Channel film Let It Shine.
In 2013, Nicole Sullivan played Wilma Basset in the Nickelodeon series Wendell & Vinnie. She played Janine, the Johnsons’ next-door neighbor, on the ABC sitcom Black-ish from 2014 until 2022. She also provided the voice of Kara Danvers, aka Supergirl, in DC Super Hero Girls.

Early Life & Education
Nicole Julianne Sullivan was born on April 21, 1970, in Manhattan, New York, United States. She is the sister of Jennifer Sullivan and the daughter of former assemblyman Edward C. Sullivan of New York State and businesswoman Madonna Sullivan.
She began dancing at the age of seven and went on to perform on Broadway with the First All-Theatre. She graduated from Middleburgh High School in 1982, where she was class treasurer, a soccer team member, and a student council member.
Nicole Sullivan majored in theatre at Northwestern University after graduating in 1987 and authored sketches and plays for the student theatre. She attended the British American Theatre Institute in London during her junior year and joined the Greenwich Shakespeare Company. She traveled to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career after graduating from Northwestern University with honors.
Career
When MADtv first aired in 1995, Nicole Sullivan was a part of the original cast. She invented a slew of characters, the most well-known of which was the scheming Vancome Lady. Her other personas were X-News reporter Amy, the dimwitted Antonia, Eracists leader Debbie, Diane Lawyer-Trabajo (pronounced “tribal”) from News at 6, racist country singer Darlene McBride, and Latina bimbo Lida.
She performed with Michael McDonald in a MADtv spoof about producing an audition tape to get on Law & Order that criticized their acting prowess; she then guest-starred in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit season one episode “Contact.” Creating Music Magazine featured her in the November/December 2009 issue.
From 2001 through 2005, Nicole Sullivan played Holly Shumpert. She returned to the role for the last season in 2007. Holly works as a dog walker throughout the majority of the show. The Heffernans pay her to ‘walk’ Arthur, Carries’ father, to get him some exercise and keep him out of trouble for a while.
Turanga Leela, one of the main characters in the cartoon series Futurama, was originally cast as Nicole Sullivan, but the role was recast with Katey Sagal before the episode aired. She has voiced Marlene the Otter on The Penguins of Madagascar, the first television series in the Madagascar franchise, which aired on Nickelodeon, Shego on Kim Possible, Joan of Arc on Clone High, Mira Nova on Buzz Lightyear of Star Command, and Joan on the Family Guy episode I Take Thee Quagmire, among other characters. She has also been in a pilot called Me and My Needs, which ABC turned down.
In Meet the Robinsons, she portrayed Franny Robinson. Nicole Sullivan also provided a voice in the Monsters, Inc. video game. She portrayed Luna in Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, a video game released in 2007. She also voiced Supergirl in Super Best Friends Forever, a series of animated shorts that aired on Cartoon Network’s DC Nation block in 2012.
The role was carried over to the DC Super Hero Girls television series, leading to appearances on Teen Titans Go! and a direct-to-video crossover feature Teen Titans Go! & DC Superhero Girls: Mayhem in the Multiverse was released on May 24, 2022.
