Rishibala Ashok Naval was born on April 4, 1976, in Mumbai, India. She was brought up by her parents, Ashok Naval and Sharda Naval, alongside her younger siblings—Monal, a late actress, Jyothi Anand, and Sumeet Naval.

She attended St. Anthony’s High School in Versova and completed her 12th grade at Children Welfare Centre on Yari Road, Mumbai. Simran belongs to a Punjabi ethnic background and follows Hinduism.

Simran began her acting career in 1995 with the Hindi film Sanam Harjai, notable for being the first Indian film shot in New Zealand. She gained wider recognition after being noticed by Jaya Bachchan, who cast her in Tere Mere Sapne. Her performance in the song Aankh Maarey from the film earned her considerable praise.
