Early Life

Sandhya Raju received her basic education at the Krishnamurti Foundation’s The School KFI Chennai, her high school education at Bala Vidya Mandir in Chennai, and a Bachelor of Psychology degree from Osmania University.

At age ten, she began training as a Kuchipudi dancer at the Kuchipudi Art Academy, which was just next door to her family, under Vempati Chinna Satyam.

She also studied with renowned Kuchipudi Guru Kishore Mosalikanti and followed his instructions to complete her Rangapravesham.

Personal Life

She married Rama Raju, the eldest son of Ramco Industries Chairman P. R. Venkatrama Raja and the son of businessman Ramalinga Raju.

Career

Sandhya Raju has been doing Kuchipudi since she was a teenager. Her first appearance was as a minor character in Rajapalayam’s Popular Dance Drama Ksheera Saagara Madhanam, directed by her Guru.

Sandhya Raju continued to appear in minor roles in Vempati Chinna Satyam’s dance dramas. Sandhya was chosen at 15 to play Lord Krishna in his final Dance Drama, Gopika Krishna.

Sandhya traveled to the United States with her Guru. Sandhya then began her studies with Guru Shri Mosalikanti, a respected disciple of Vempati Chinna Satyam.
