Yvonne Nelson (born November 12, 1985) is a famous Ghanaian actress, model, producer of films, businesswoman, and philanthropist. 

Before travelling to Nigeria in 2007 for her first collaboration with Genevieve Nnaji, she shot about five additional films and received her first main role in the film Princess Tyra

Yvonne Nelson has since worked hard to establish herself as a family figure in the film business, launching her career in Nollywood.

Early Life

Yvonne Nelson was born in Accra, Ghana, on November 12, 1985. She is a native of Ghana’s Cape Coast. She was born to Mr. O. Nelson (father) and Margaret Gaddy (mother).

She attended Aggrey Memorial Senior High School in Accra after beginning her schooling at St. Martin De Porres School in Accra, Ghana. 

Yvonne Nelson attended Central University College in Ghana after completing her elementary and secondary schooling there, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in human resource management. 

She competed in the famous Miss Ghana pageant in 2005. However, she was unable to win.

Career

Yvonne Nelson began attending movie auditions in Ghana in 2000 when she first began her acting career. She became well-known in 2007 after playing the lead in the wildly successful Ghanaian film Princess Tyra. After finding success with Princess Tyra, she travelled to Nigeria and shot five additional films, which helped launch her Nollywood career and establish her as a well-known figure. 

Crime to Christ, Princess Tyra, Passion of the Soul, Plan B, Tears of Womanhood, etc., are just a few of the nearly 100 films in which Yvonne Nelson has appeared as an actress. 

Following her success as an actress, Yvonne Nelson decided to produce her first film, The Price, in 2011. A year later, she produced Married the Next Year. She won the Best Picture Award at the Ghana Movie Awards and the City Peoples Entertainment Awards’ Best Ghanaian Movie in Nigeria in 2013. 

She established the Yvonne Nelson Glaucoma Foundation in 2010, which she uses to raise awareness of the chronic illnesses that claim daily lives. Her charitable foundation also aids those in need, particularly those who are physically challenged and less fortunate. 

She produced an all-star charity single and filmed a video with the cooperation of other Ghanaian celebrities to spread awareness about deadly diseases. 

Yvonne Nelson received awards from GoWoman Magazine and Printex in 2013 for the accomplishments of both her film career and the Glaucoma Foundation. She has made it her mission to join other Ghanaian celebrities and the general public in protecting the country’s electricity problem.

She was also rumoured to be dating Nasty Blaq, Tobi Bakre, Jon German, Iyanya, Ice Prince, and John Dumelo. Yvonne Nelson has no married husband. She once dated Sarkodie.
