Abraham Isaac Quintanilla III was born on December 13, 1963, in Toppenish, Washington, United States. He is the first child of Abraham Isaac Quintanilla Jr. and Marcella Ofelia Quintanilla (née Samoa).
His father is an American singer, songwriter, and producer. When A.B. Quintanilla was just three months old, the family moved to Lake Jackson, Texas, where he and his younger sisters, Selena Quintanilla and Suzette Quintanilla, were raised.
A.B. Quintanilla III attended Brazoswood High School. He is Mexican-American, with a Mexican-American father and a Mexican-Native American mother. The Quintanilla family practiced Christianity as their religion.
Career
While living in Lake Jackson, Texas, A.B. Quintanilla‘s musical career began playing bass guitar with his family band, Los Dinos. He later learned to play guitar as well. Alongside his sister Selena, Suzette, and their father Abraham, A.B. became a member of the successful band Los Dinos.
A.B. went on to become Selena’s producer and co-wrote some of her biggest hits like “Como la Flor” and “Amor Prohibido.” Selena’s tragic murder in 1995 greatly devastated him. He helped produce the song “Como Te Extraño” by Pedro “Pete” Astudillo, written for Selena.
In 1999, A.B. formed the group Kumbia Kings, blending cumbia and pop music. The Kumbia Kings gained international success and popularity, especially in South America. A.B. also produced for other artists like Thalía and Cristian Castro.
After leaving Kumbia Kings in 2006, A.B. formed a new group called Kumbia All Stars with his brother-in-law Chris Pérez and other former Kumbia Kings members. This new group also found great success in South America.

A.B. Quintanilla has been married five times. His first marriage was to Evangelina Almeida in 1988 when he was 24 years old. They had two children together, Martika and Savani Quintanilla, before separating in the late 1990s and finalizing their divorce in 2000.
Quintanilla‘s second marriage was to Heather Grein in 2002. They had two children, Abraham Isaac IV and Elijah Jae Quintanilla, before divorcing in 2004. Heather Grein remains on good terms with Quintanilla and his family. Quintanilla’s third marriage was to Brenda Lee Ramírez in 2004.
