She is the fifth child and the second daughter of her parents. She grew up in Mbarara, Uganda, where her father owned a farm and a school. She attended Katatumba Academy, a primary school founded by her father.

Angella later moved to Canada, where she completed her secondary education at Belmont Senior Secondary School in Vancouver, B.C.

  • In 2011, Angella sued the Anti-Corruption Coalition of Uganda (ACCU) for copyright infringement after they used a substantial portion of the lyrics and content of her song Let’s Go Green in their advertisement without her consent. She won the case and was awarded damages and costs.
  • In 2018, Angella was disowned by the Pakistan Embassy over allegations that she was illegally acting as the Pakistan Consul in Uganda, a title held by her late father. She denied the allegations and said she only served as the Acting Honorary Consul until a new appointee was chosen.
  • In 2020, Angella broke up with her boyfriend, Daddy Andre, after he refused to take an HIV test. She revealed that they had been dating for four months, but they had never been intimate because she wanted him to prove his status first. She said she was heartbroken and emotionally drained by the breakup.
  • In 2021, Angella shocked her followers after blatantly revealing that she had not undergone the traditional practice of female genital mutilation, commonly known as “pulling” among the Baganda.
