David Orobosa Omoregie was born on June 5, 1998, to Nigerian parents of the Edo ethnic group in Angell Town, Brixton, South London. Frank Omoregie, a pastor, and Juliet Doris Omoregie, a nurse, are his parents.

He has two older brothers, Benjamin and Christopher, who are eight and five years his junior. When Dave was just a few months old, his father was deported to Nigeria as a result of visa issues; he thought he was on a missionary visa but was actually on a visitor’s visa. Due to her fear of deportation, Dave’s mother was forced to leave with his brothers, and they were not reunited with Dave for three months. The family was then made homeless for a while and forced to live on South London buses.

When Dave was seven, his family moved from nearby Brixton to Streatham in South London. He started writing rhymes at 11 after watching his older brother practice rapping at home, and he taught himself piano after receiving an electric keyboard for Christmas from his mother when he was 14. Dave’s older brothers were both in prison during his adolescence. Under the law of joint enterprise, Dave’s brother Christopher, who is still incarcerated, was given a life sentence with a minimum of 18 years for his part in the gang murder.

Then, when Dave was 15, his other brother Benjamin was sentenced to four years in jail for robbery; he was freed in 2018.

Dave studied law, philosophy, ethics, good design, and politics at St Mark’s Academy in Mitcham and Richmond upon Thames College in Twickenham. He was accepted to De Montfort University in Leicester to pursue a legal education, but he decided to put more emphasis on his musical endeavours. Additionally, Dave is a huge Manchester United F.C. supporter.

In January 2019, Dave partnered with U.K. rapper Headie One on the track “18Hunna,” which peaked at number six on the U.K. Singles Chart.

His debut album, Psychodrama, was released on March 8, 2019. The album opened at number one in the United Kingdom, selling 26,390 copies in its first week, with 26.3 million streaming accounting for 79% of total sales.

On July 23, 2021, Dave released his second album, We’re All Alone in This Together. It was Dave’s second consecutive number-one album, debuting at the top of the U.K. Albums Chart. It was also Dave’s first album to top the Scottish and Irish album charts.
