Emin Araz oğlu Agalarov was born on December 12, 1979, in Baku, Azerbaijan SSR, USSR, to Azerbaijani-Russian oligarch Aras Agalarov, the head of Crocus Group, and Irina Agalarova. He has one sibling, a sister named Sheyla Agalarova, who is involved in various business ventures.
When Emin was four years old, his family moved to Moscow, and at the age of 13, his parents sent him to a school in Switzerland. In 1994, Agalarov moved to Tenafly, New Jersey, where he graduated from Tenafly High School in 1997. He then pursued higher education at Marymount Manhattan College in New York City. Emin Aras oghlu Agalarov’s interest in music began during his time in high school in the United States. After graduating, he returned to Russia, where he continued to develop his craft, writing and composing songs.
His career took off in 2006 with the release of his debut studio album Still. Over the next few years, Emin released albums annually, including Incredible in 2007, Obsession in 2008 (a collection of classic Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley songs), and Devotion in 2009. Each album was accompanied by performances in major cities like Moscow and Baku.
In 2010, Emin moved to London and released his album Wonder in Russia and the CIS, with an international release following in 2011. The single “Heart Keeps Beating” from his second album, After the Thunder, gained significant radio play in Russia.
In 2012, Emin released the album After the Thunder and performed the track “Never Enough” during the Eurovision Song Contest held in Baku.
