Early life and education
Fally Ipupa came into this world on December 14, 1977, in the vibrant neighborhood of Bandalungwa (Bandal) in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). he was raised by his beloved parents, Faustin Ebombo Ipupa and Monique Botuli Mbo.
From an early age, Fally was exposed to the enchanting world of music as his father skillfully played the guitar and his mother gracefully showcased her vocal talents. He has siblings named Bony, Tyna, and Nicolette.
Despite not receiving any formal education beyond high school, Fally Ipupa boldly decided to drop out at 16 to follow his passion for music.
Career
At the start of the 1990s, he began his musical journey by playing street music alongside his friends. Progressing further in his musical endeavors, he became a member of the renowned group Talents Latents in 1997. This collaboration led to the release of their Album Nouvelle Vague in 1999.
The year 2000 brought him yet another opportunity, as he received an invitation to join Quartier Latin International, a highly acclaimed Congolese group headed by Koffi Olomide. Within no time, he gained immense popularity within the group and contributed significantly as a co-writer and vocalist for several of their chart-topping hits.
In 2006, Ipupa embarked on a solo journey to carve his path in the music industry. Wasting no time, he released his highly anticipated debut album, Droit Chemin, the same year.
Much to his delight, the Album resonated immensely with audiences and became a commercial triumph, selling over 100,000 copies within the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The artistic excellence showcased in Droit Chemin even earned it a nomination for the esteemed Kora Award for Best Central African Album.
