Lydia Nabawanuka, known by her stage name Lydia Jazmine, was born on July 27, 1991, in Mukono, Uganda. Her parents, Kasugi William and Nakanwagi Scolastica, welcomed her into a family that includes a younger sister who is now a mother.

Her melodious journey commenced during high school when she discovered her love for singing while participating in her school’s chorus. As her passion for music blossomed, Lydia extended her vocal prowess by joining the church choirs at the Passover Harvest Centre and Watoto Church.

Lydia Jazmine began her academic journey at Victoria Nile School for elementary education in her early educational years. However, she later switched to Saint Mary’s School Namaliga in the Kimenyedde sub-county of Mukono District. Following completing her high school education, Lydia graduated from Cityland College Matugga, renowned as one of Uganda’s premier secondary institutions, in Matugga, Wakiso District.

Continuing her pursuit of education, Lydia Jazmine earned her Bachelor of Business Administration and Management degree from Multitech Business School in Kampala, the capital and largest city of Uganda, in February 2016.

Lydia Jazmine‘s musical journey began in church choirs at Passover Harvest Centre and Watoto Church. After high school, she joined the band Gertnum and later became a backup singer for Radio & Weasel, also known as Goodlyfe Crew. Collaborating with artists like Bebe Cool and Sheebah Karungi, she lent her vocals to hits like Ntunga and Breath Away.

In 2014, Lydia Jazmine ventured into solo work with her debut, You Know, a duet with Rabadaba. Her breakthrough came in 2015 with the chart-topper Nkwagala, earning her the Breakthrough Artist of the Year at the Uganda Music Awards. The success continued with Guno Omukwano, securing her the Best Female Artist award in 2016.
