Ofego Biography

Ofego is a Nigerian Banku Music artist, a subgenre of Afrobeats pioneered by Mr Eazi.

He swept Ghana’s 2024 Notable Africa Music Awards, winning West Africa Artiste of the Year, Songwriter of the Year, and Album of the Year for Banku Bounce.

Career Beginnings

Before going professional in 2021, Ofego created Nigerian jokes online, made skits, and dabbled in singing and songwriting.

His signature style includes starting every song with his name, “Ofego,” followed by spelling it out—O-F-E-G-O—to help fans pronounce it and recognize him instantly.

Discography

Ofego debuted with the single “When,” followed by his first album, Bankumentation (November 2022). His second album, Time E Be Money (April 2023), featured the hit “Oh Boy No Le.”

In February 2024, he released Banku Bounce, which won Album of the Year at the 2024 Notable Africa Music Awards. In July 2024, Ofego and his label, B.O.Y Music (joined in 2022), dropped B.O.Y Now For A Lifetime, spawning hits like “Fan Ta,” “Shakei Shakei (B.O.Y Anthem Remix),” and “No Be Child’s Play.”

Collaborations and Contributions

In 2024, Ofego contributed songwriting and vocals to DJ Chop Knuckle’s album In The Building, producing the global hit “A Miss U.” The music video for “A Miss U” was directed by Chris Ekios, who also helmed videos for Ofego’s “Where It Matters” and “B.O.Y Anthem” from Banku Bounce.

D Girls Dem Daddy (2025)

On January 13, 2025, Ofego released his fourth album, D Girls Dem Daddy, his most successful yet, amassing thousands of streams in its first week. The lead single’s music video, directed by Madumike (known for Ofego’s “Issa Shutdown,” “Oblongata,” “Sharp Shooter,” “Fan Ta,” and “Dey Looseguard”), is out, with a remix video shot on a private jet slated for release.

“Oblongata” topped Nigeria’s Shazam Top 100 and was the world’s #1 Afrobeats song in February 2025.
