They welcomed their first child, a daughter named Simona Lawreshia Osei, in August 2019. Strongman is a devoted father who often shares pictures and videos of his family on his social media.

Career

Strongman’s rap career began in 2010 when he won the Focus FM Freestyle Friday, a radio rap contest in Kumasi.

He followed it up with another victory at the KFM Freestyle Saturday in 2011. His breakthrough came in 2012 when he emerged as the winner of the Next Big Thing in G.H. Rap Music, a nationwide rap competition aired on TV3.

He beat 15 other contestants to clinch the coveted title and a recording deal with MicBurnerz Music, a record label headed by producer Azee Ntwene.

Under MicBurnerz Music, Strongman released several singles and mixtapes, such as “Wobepe Me”, “Oh Joe”, “Tonight”, “One Man Army”, and “Strongman”. He also featured on songs by other artists, such as Okyeame Kwame, Flowking Stone, Edem, and DJ Black.

He gained recognition and respect for his lyrical prowess and witty punchlines, earning him the nickname “The Punchline King” or “PLK”. He also performed at various shows and events, such as the Ghana Meets Naija, the Ghana Music Awards, and the Ghana Rocks Concert.

In 2017, Strongman signed a two-year contract with Sarkcess Music, a record label owned by renowned rapper Sarkodie. He described the move as a dream come true, as he had always looked up to Sarkodie as his mentor and role model. Under Sarkcess Music, Strongman released some of his biggest hits, such as “Transformer”, “Baby Girl”, “Odasani”, “Monster”, and “Bossu”.

He also collaborated with some of the top artists in the industry, such as Akwaboah, B4bonah, M.anifest, and Kelvyn Boy. He also released his debut album, “Still That Ni99a” (STN) 2018, which featured 13 tracks and received positive reviews from fans and critics.

In 2019, Strongman parted ways with Sarkcess Music after his contract expired. He explained that the decision was mutual and amicable and that he was grateful for the opportunity and support from Sarkodie and his team.

He also announced the launch of his record label, Strong Empire, which he said was a platform for him to express his creativity and vision.

He also released his second album, “10 AM“, in 2020, which featured 10 tracks and guest appearances from Medikal, Wendy Shay, DopeNation, and Quamina MP. He also dropped some singles, such as “Pilolo”, “Mokobe”, “Big Boy”, and “Whine”.

Strongman has won several awards and nominations throughout his career, both locally and internationally.

Some of the notable ones are:

  • Best Rapper of the Year at the 3Music Awards in 2020.
  • Best Collaboration of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards U.K. in 2020 (for “Bossu” with Medikal).

Controversy

Strongman has been involved in some controversies and beef with other rappers in the industry, most notably with Medikal in 2019.

The rap feud started when Medikal claimed that he saved the rap industry in Ghana for four years, a statement that Strongman and other rappers disagreed with.

The two rappers exchanged diss tracks, such as “To Whom It May Concern”, “Don’t Try”, “The Last Burial”, and “Immortal”, which sparked a lot of reactions and debates on social media.

The beef was eventually settled after the two rappers apologized to each other and their fans and even collaborated on a song, “Bossu”, in 2020.

Another controversy that Strongman faced was when a leaked audio of him allegedly exposing some corruption and favouritism in the World’s Strongest Man competition surfaced online in 2022.

The audio released by Mark Boyd, a strength athlete and promoter, purportedly revealed that some athletes were bribed and given favourable events and groupings to win the competition.

Strongman responded to the audio by saying that it was a private conversation in April 2021 and that he had no intention of tarnishing the reputation of the competition or any other athlete.

He also expressed his disappointment with Mark Boyd, whom he considered a friend, for betraying his trust and leaking the audio.
