Phoebe Lucille Bridgers was born and raised in Pasadena, California, on August 17, 1994. Bridgers earned extra money as a child by busking at the Pasadena Farmers Market.
Bridgers attended Pasadena’s Sequoyah School and Los Angeles County High School for the Arts. Her childhood was spent in Ukiah, California.
Career
Phoebe Bridgers‘ growing presence in the LA music scene led to her friendship with producer Tony Berg, who worked with her on her first album for free after she decided not to attend college and focus on her music career.
Phoebe released her debut single, Smoke Signals, in January 2017 while opening for Conor Oberst on his European tour. Stranger In The Alps, her debut studio album, was released in September of the same year. The album was well-received by critics.
Tony Berg produced the album, which Ethan Gruska and Rob Moose co-produced, who would become regular collaborators with Bridgers. Bridgers promoted the album by appearing on CBS This Morning and NPR Tiny Desk.

She met American singer-songwriter Ryan Adams when she was 20 years old. Ryan and Phoebe started as a professional relationship, but it quickly evolved into a romantic one.
Bridgers and several other women accused Adams of emotional abuse in a New York Times report in 2019.
