Conan O’Brien was born in Brookline, Massachusetts, on April 18, 1963. His father, Thomas Francis O’Brien, was born in 1929. He is a physician and professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School, focusing on epidemiology.

His mother, Ruth O’Brien, was born in 1931 as Ruth Reardon before she got married. She was a lawyer who worked at the Boston law firm Ropes & Gray. O’Brien comes from a family with three brothers and two sisters.
