Scaroni introduced a separate wind energy unit, and under his leadership, Enel was included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the first time.



In 2005, Scaroni became the CEO of ENI, an Italian multinational energy company, where he spent nine years. He prioritized reducing the company’s reliance on oil and increasing its natural gas operations as part of a transition to more sustainable energy sources.

In 2018, Scaroni was appointed chairman of A.C. Milan after the club’s takeover by Elliott Management Corporation. He helped guide Milan to a Serie A Scudetto in 2022.

Scaroni’s judicial proceedings have also marked Scaroni’s career. He was involved in the 1996 “Tangentopoli” scandal and sentenced to prison, but the sentence was later extinguished.

He also faced investigations related to ENEL and ENI, including the Porto Tolle, Saipem Algeria, and Shell Nigeria cases, but he was acquitted in 2017, 2020, and 2022, respectively.
