Vaccaro co-founded the first national high school All-Star game, the Dapper Dan Roundball Classic, in 1965. Over its 43-year history, this game has featured many basketball greats.

Vaccaro had a close friendship with basketball coach George Raveling, but they had a falling out over the summer high school basketball camp business. Raveling became a competitor to Vaccaro at Nike.
