Stephanie Marie McMahon was born on September 24, 1976, in Hartford, Connecticut, United States. She was born to her parents Vince McMahon and Linda McMahon, with her father being a professional wrestling promoter.

Stephanie has an older brother named Shane McMahon. Soon after her birth, the family moved to Greenwich, Connecticut, where Stephanie attended Greenwich Country Day School during elementary school.

After graduating from Greenwich High School in 1994, Stephanie attended Boston University in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science degree in communications. Stephanie is of mixed Irish American ethnicity and practises Christianity as her religion.
