Early Life and Education

Chhota Rajan was born on 13 January 1960 in Mumbai, India, to his parents Sadasiv Sakharam Nikalje and Laxmibai Sadavshiv Nikalje. He grew up with 3 siblings, Deepak Nikalje, Malini Sakpal, and Sunita Sakkharam Chavan, and is of Marathi descent. He follows the Hinduism faith and attended Amchi Shala Marathi-medium school in Tilak Nagar, Mumbai.

Chhota Rajan, an infamous Indian gangster, was born into a family living in the Tilaknagar area of Chembur, Bombay. Despite his humble beginnings, he found himself drawn to a life of crime and started by committing small offenses in his neighborhood. It was his mentor, Bada Rajan, who introduced him to the world of black marketing cinema tickets at Sahakar Cinema Ashok Theatre in the 1980s.

Chhota Rajan‘s rise to power was not without its controversies and conflicts. While he started as a protege of Bada Rajan and Yadagiri of Hyderabad, his relationship with them eventually turned sour. After Bada Rajan’s death, Chhota Rajan took over and was given the title of “Chhota Rajan.”

For a brief period, he even worked with Dawood Ibrahim and Arun Gawli, but their collaboration ended after the assassination of Papa Gawli, Arun’s elder brother. Chhota Rajan then went to Dubai for a wedding and never returned.

After the 1993 Bombay bombings, his relationship with Dawood Ibrahim deteriorated, with reports of him tipping off authorities about Ibrahim’s network. The once powerful duo of Ibrahim and Rajan was no more, and their messy split was finalized in September 2000 when Chhota Shakeel attacked Rajan in his Bangkok hotel room.

Chhota Rajan, a notorious underworld gangster, was arrested in Bali on 26th October 2015. The arrest was made based on a tip-off from Australian police, and Rajan was detained by Indonesian authorities as he arrived in Bali from Sydney.

The director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) confirmed the arrest and stated that it was made at the request of the CBI through Interpol. Rajan has been involved in various criminal activities and has been on the run for many years.
