Goodwill Zwelithini kaBhekuzulu (born July 14, 1948), who reigned as the Zulu King for an unprecedented 50 years from 1971 until his passing in 2021, played a pivotal role in South Africa. 

Assuming the throne at 20 in 1968 following his father’s demise, King Zwelithini became the longest-reigning Zulu monarch in history. Born on July 27, 1948, in the town of Zulu, South Africa, Goodwill Zwelithini was raised by his parents, Cyprian Bhekuzulu and Thomozile Jezangani kaNdwandwe. His surname happens to be kaBhekuzulu.
