Boston had been the last person to see the couple alive, as Frampton had mentioned him, his two sons, and his boat, the Justin B, in her final letter dated June 28, 1978. Shortly after, the couple’s bodies were found hogtied to heavy engine parts, floating in the Caribbean Sea off the coast of Guatemala.

Though Boston was the primary suspect in the murders of Farmer and Frampton, he was never formally charged or put on trial for the crimes. This was because he died in April 2017, before the case could go to trial, due to his deteriorating health.
