Early Life and Education

Toyin Ojora-Saraki was born on September 6, 1964, in Lagos, Nigeria, into the prestigious Ojora and Adele royal families of Lagos. Her father is Oloye Adekunle Ojora, the Otunba of Lagos, and her mother is Erelu Oodua Iyaloye Ojuolape Ojora (née Akinfe). Toyin has two brothers, Yinka Ojora and Dapo Ojora.

She received her elementary education at St. Saviour’s School, Ikoyi, Lagos, and Holy Child College, Lagos. She then went to the United Kingdom, where she attended Roedean School in Brighton.

Toyin achieved her LL.B degree in law from the London School of Oriental and African Studies and her LL.M in International Economic Law from King’s College London, both at the University of London. After her studies, Toyin returned to Nigeria and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1989.

She contributed to the establishment of the Lifestream Charity in 1993 and is an advocate of the United Nations Every Woman Every Child campaign. Mrs. Saraki serves on the boards of the Global Foundation for the Elimination of Domestic Violence and the Africa Justice Foundation.
