Early Life and Education

Kurtis Eugene Warner was born on June 22, 1971, in Burlington, Iowa, United States. He was raised by his parents, Gene Warner and Sue Warner, and is the youngest of two sons in the family. His elder brother is named Matt Warner.

Warner attended the University of Northern Iowa, where he graduated with a degree in communications. Despite not being recruited by major college programs, Warner excelled at the University of Northern Iowa, becoming the starting quarterback during his senior year.

Career

Kurt Warner went undrafted after college and initially played in the Arena Football League (AFL) before getting a shot in Europe’s NFL Europa. Warner signed with the St. Louis Rams in 1998.

When the starting quarterback got injured, Warner stepped in and led the Rams to a Super Bowl victory in 2000, earning Super Bowl MVP honors and becoming NFL MVP in 1999.

Warner continued his success with the Rams, earning another NFL MVP award in 2001. After a stint with the New York Giants, Warner found a new home with the Arizona Cardinals. He led them to their first-ever Super Bowl appearance in 2009.

Warner retired in 2010 after a remarkable career. He’s a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame (inducted in 2017) and is widely considered one of the greatest comeback stories in NFL history.
