Lachlan Oliver Neale was born in South Australia, Australia, on May 24, 1993. He was raised by his parents, Robbie Neale and Amanda Taylor.

Career

 Lachie Neale was drafted by the Fremantle Dockers in the 2011 AFL draft, joining his childhood friend Alex Forster, who was drafted in the same year. Neale had a strong preseason in 2012 but missed the start of the season due to an ankle injury.

After playing a few games in the WAFL, Neale made his AFL debut for Fremantle in 2012 and gradually improved over the following seasons.

Neale’s 2016 season was rewarded with the Doig Medal as Fremantle’s best and fairest player.

He went on to win a second Doig Medal in 2018 before requesting a trade to the Brisbane Lions. At his new club, Neale thrived, earning his first All-Australian selection in 2019 and winning the Brownlow Medal in the shortened 2020 season. 

Neale continued his excellent form in subsequent seasons, winning accolades such as additional All-Australian selections and Merrett-Murray Medals. While he missed out on the 2022 Brownlow Medal by a single vote, he remains one of the competition’s elite midfielders.
