Edvin Kristaq Rama, born on July 4, 1964, in Tirana, PR Albania, is the son of Kristaq Rama (1932–1998), a prominent sculptor, and Aneta Rama (née Koleka) (1938–2020), a medical professional. His father was a significant figure in the arts during the communist era, while his mother hailed from a politically notable family.

Rama has one sibling, a younger brother named Olsi Rama, who is involved in sports as the General Director of Partizani Tirana, a leading Albanian football club.
