Early Life
Sheriff Oborevwori was born on June 19, 1963, to Chief Samuel and Mrs Esther Oborevwori of Osubi, Delta State.
He attended Oghareki Grammar School for his secondary school after receiving his early education at Alegbo Primary School.
He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in political science from the prestigious Ambrose Ali University in Ekpoma in 2004.
In 2010, Delta State University in Abraka awarded him a master’s degree in political science. Oborevwori is a graduate of the London School of Economics and Political Science’s Leadership Inclusive Development Certificate Program and the Alliance Manchester Business School’s Leadership Executive Certificate Program.
Career
Oborovwori was first a member of the Okpe neighborhood before becoming its elected chairman. He gained notoriety, nevertheless, in 2015 when he was chosen to represent Okpe State Constituency (PDP) as a member of the Delta State House of Assembly.
After working as a councilor for 19 years in various government positions, he was elected to the House of Representatives.
On May 11, 2017, Rt. Hon. Monday Igbuya was chosen as the next Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly following the impeachment of the outgoing Speaker.

Sheriff Francis Oborevwori is now the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) standard-bearer for governor in the general elections 2023 after receiving 597 votes in the party’s governorship primary in Delta State on Wednesday in Asaba.
Senator Oborevwori, the favored candidate of Ifeanyi Okowa, defeated Olorogun David Edevbie, the choice of former governor Chief James Ibori, who received 113 votes and came in third.
The sheriff received 625 votes, making him the party’s legitimate candidate, according to Mr Ndibusi Nwobu, chairman of the electoral panel.
However, because former governors Ibori and Uduaghan did not participate in the primary elections, it is clear that Okowa is in charge of the party.
While Edevbie, dissatisfied with the voting results, fled before the polls closed, Oborevwori was filled with happiness as he embraced the other candidates and delegates. Everyone applauded as he was announced the winner.
Oborevwori received 597 votes, compared to Edevbie’s 113, Olorogun Kenneth Gbagi’s 0 votes, Chief Fred Majemite’s 6, Senator James Manager’s 83, Barr Peter Mrakpor’s 9, Deacon Kingsley Otuaro’s 9, and Chief Ejaife Odebala’s 2 votes, according to Mr Ndubusi Nwobu, chairman of the panel.
Nwobu asserted that the primary results did not determine the outcome of this election. He said that the election was free and fair.
The 824 delegates who arrived at the Dome Centre in Asaba for the accreditation process at around 11 am were happy and upbeat.
Thirteen of the fourteen candidates who had been cleared were present. Chief Kenneth Gbagi, the former minister of state for education, withdrew from the contest earlier this week and did not appear at the venue on Tuesday.
At 3:24 pm, Aniocha North delegates cast their votes alphabetically. The Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) and security personnel were present to monitor the election.
Other candidates for governor, including Mr. Ejaife Odebala and Mr Fred Majemite, left the voting location without ceremony with Deacon Kingsley Otuaro and Mr Braduce Angozi.
At 5:25, the southwest Warri elections were finished. The ballots were sorted and tallied starting at 5:41 pm.
Scholarship Initiative
Rt. Hon. Oborevwori allegedly presented 25 students from Okpe Local Government, both indigenous and non-indigenous, with empowerment kits and scholarships for six million nairas on June 24, 2018.
In addition to providing financial aid for study, the Oborevwori Foundation Scholarship Scheme also launched programs to support small-time traders, market women, and artisans.
Donations for market women working in the frozen food industry included:
- Twenty-four buses or cars.
- Ten tricycles.
- Twenty kits for hair salons with generators.
- Forty pieces of milling equipment.
- Thirty sewing machines.
- Twenty deep freezers.
Also given to widows were hundreds of clothing items.
Personal Life
Sheriff Oborevwori’s spouse is Mrs Oborevwori Tobore. She was reported to have been abducted in 2011 in the Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State’s Osubi Road.
The criminals were quickly apprehended and sentenced to 21 years in jail.
