Career

As a defenceman, he played for various teams, including the Windsor Spitfires, New Brunswick Hawks, Baltimore Skipjacks, and St. John’s Maple Leafs in the AHL.

He played for the Maple Leafs, Colorado Rockies/New Jersey Devils, Hartford Whalers, and Washington Capitals in the NHL.

Despite the regular-season success, the Blues were eliminated early in the playoffs by the San Jose Sharks. In 2004, after a disappointing start, Quenneville was fired by St. Louis as the team faced the possibility of missing the playoffs.

In 2005, Quenneville was hired as head coach of the Colorado Avalanche, leading them to a first-round playoff victory in his first year. His coaching milestones continued, with his 750th career game on March 25, 2007.

After his tenure with Chicago, Quenneville became the head coach of the Florida Panthers in 2019. He led the team to its first playoff appearance in four years in his first season.

However, during the 2021–2022 season, he resigned abruptly after leading the Panthers to a perfect 7–0 record to start the season.

His resignation followed the fallout from an investigation into the handling of a sexual assault case involving former Chicago Blackhawks player Kyle Beach.
