Kevin Sinfield was born on September 12, 1980, in Oldham, United Kingdom. He was raised by his parents, Ray Sinfield and Beryl Sinfield, and grew up with his brother, Ian Sinfield. Sinfield attended Leeds Beckett University. His ethnicity is white, and his religion is Christianity.

Career

Kevin Sinfield began his professional rugby league career at Waterhead ARLFC, a club that has produced other notable talents such as Barrie McDermott, Paul Sculthorpe, and Marc Sneyd. He signed for Leeds in August 1997.

In the 1990s, Sinfield made his first-team debut for Leeds at the age of 16 against the Sheffield Eagles in 1997. He went on to make three more appearances that season and in 1998, scoring his first try against the Huddersfield Giants in September 1998. 1999 was a breakthrough year for Sinfield, with 21 appearances and 2 tries, although he was not selected for Leeds’ 1999 Challenge Cup Final victory.

During the 2000s, Sinfield’s career continued to flourish. He was part of the England squad for the 2000 Rugby League World Cup, scoring a hat-trick of tries in a match against Russia. He also represented Great Britain in all three Ashes tests against Australia during the 2001 Kangaroo tour.

In 2021, Sinfield left Leeds to become defense coach at rugby union club Leicester Tigers, helping them win the 2021–22 Premiership Rugby title. He then moved to become defense coach for the England national rugby union team in December 2022, following Leicester head coach Steve Borthwick’s appointment as England head coach.
